Gabriel Vazov hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. In the 14th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and EK's Denimir Bebin didn't even have to move. In the 16th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Denimir Bebin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 17 minutes EK's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. 18 minutes into the match, İlbey Denizalp dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Arnout Reekers, 1-0. Denimir Bebin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 35th minute of the match. 37 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when İlbey Denizalp came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Egbert Nijveldt hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. In the 44th minute of the match Lyuboslav Zanev shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arnout Reekers showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when İlbey Denizalp made the kick off in the second half. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sevdalin Ovcharov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to EK getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Yancho Traychev hit a great ball. Gijsbert ter Kruimer struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Denimir Bebin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. 58 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Yancho Traychev came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. EK's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Gijsbert ter Kruimer 60 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Yancho Traychev kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. After having played for 90 minutes, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wim Wilmes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denimir Bebin having to interfere. Netherlands were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing EK to leave the ground with a draw.
