Casper Claes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alexander Bottone went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 22nd minute Edward Vanderstraeten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Rotili saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A.S. Udinese's attentive Alessio Zoccali managed to snatch the ball when Simon Sabbe made a throw-in in the 24th minute of the game. A.S. Udinese's Alvaro Rotili played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 27th minute of play. Edward Vanderstraeten struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Alvaro Rotili didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Belgium. Alexander Bottone blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Casper Claes having to make a save. Bruno Maranzano kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Alexander Bottone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Casper Claes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alvaro Rotili narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edward Vanderstraeten was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind A.S. Udinese's goalkeeper Alvaro Rotili, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alberigo Di Franco was slow to take the kick. During this time A.S. Udinese's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Alberigo Di Franco almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Belgium's Casper Claes did a great save. The A.S. Udinese fans' excitement grew in the 87th match minute when A.S. Udinese's Alexander Bottone looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexander Bottone in the 90th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Casper Claes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexander Bottone in the 96th minute of the match. The A.S. Udinese players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
