With an extended leg and a bit of luck Angelo Distiratsu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 23 minutes into the match, Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eric Oltean. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 28th minute of play forced Atlético Nacional's goalkeeper Angelo Distiratsu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Angelo Distiratsu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Edward Vanderstraeten managed to get in a good position for a shot. Belgium's supporters rose to their feet, but Edward Vanderstraeten was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Angelo Distiratsu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 35th minute Carlos Alberto Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Carlos Alberto Azevedo was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlético Nacional's goalkeeper Angelo Distiratsu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 59 minutes into the game, Atlético Nacional's Eric Oltean nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Casper Claes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Atlético Nacional's Angelo Distiratsu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Atlético Nacional from getting a goal against them. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Alberto Azevedo in the 65th minute of play. If Carlos Alberto Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Atlético Nacional made a substitution. Kang Wei Yue replaced Jeroen Roofhoof. 72 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Angelo Distiratsu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Edward Vanderstraeten's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Angelo Distiratsu was relentless in the 75th minute of the game.
