Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Julian Dillard made the kick off which started today's match. Bob Griffith might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilson Amorim. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bob Griffith ran back to his position shaking his head. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bob Griffith in the 4th minute of play. In the 7th minute Viriato Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Truman Cooley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in C. A. Independiente's zone, Felipe Barreto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Truman Cooley came out of the goal and Felipe Barreto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ferdinand Bauer's late challenge caught a Portugal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ferdinand Bauer helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to C. A. Independiente getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Moses Donahue hit a great ball. Truman Cooley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viriato Moura in the 15th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bob Griffith got free with Wilson Amorim in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Pimentel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 41st match minute, C. A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilbert Guzman to maneuver through the defense. Viriato Moura struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Truman Cooley didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portugal. Portugal's Felipe Barreto got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 52nd minute, Graciano Coutinho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Truman Cooley was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bob Griffith, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Wilson Amorim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bob Griffith went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 59 minutes into the match, Graciano Coutinho dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Truman Cooley, 1-3. C. A. Independiente's Truman Cooley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Moura in the 65th minute of play. Graciano Coutinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Truman Cooley made a huge save. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bob Griffith in the 72nd minute of the match. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. A collision led to C. A. Independiente getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Adam Farris hit a great ball. 76 minutes into the match, Felipinho Amorim notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of C. A. Independiente's Truman Cooley. Truman Cooley was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Adam Farris kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. When Graciano Coutinho came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Portugal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Graciano Coutinho couldn't finish the play. Truman Cooley didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 84th minute, which inside left pole to 1-5. Felipinho Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Truman Cooley having to interfere. In the 91st minute, Bartolomeu Dias left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Portugal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. When Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias in 96 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Truman Cooley guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Bob Griffith received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Wilson Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The C. A. Independiente fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Portugal were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
