Vavrinec Holub showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benoit Ritieni, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. In the 28th minute, FC Lugano's Benoit Ritieni dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Erik Jilek stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Benoit Ritieni in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vavrinec Holub saved Czech Republic from getting behind. Elroy Zufferey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Vavrinec Holub tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valdemar Turecek charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Valdemar Turecek the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nereo Precioso hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Khachonkiat Pornsaptaveekoon in the 76th minute of play forced Czech Republic's goalkeeper Vavrinec Holub to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Khachonkiat Pornsaptaveekoon scored 9-0 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vavrinec Holub, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match had gone on for 83 minutes, Ray Büeler put it in 10-0 from a short distance just to the right of Vavrinec Holub. After 86 minutes, Gregor Wirth mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Lugano and the Czech Republic players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 94th minute Denis Dostal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Godo Gøl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
