An unexpectedly hard shot by Benoit Ritieni in the 3rd minute of play forced Switzerland's goalkeeper Hias Nüssli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 6th match minute, Switzerland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodrigo von Känel to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Samuele Kunz during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 8th minute, Samuele Kunz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hias Nüssli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benoit Ritieni in the 9th minute of the match. If Ray Büeler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 14 minutes into the match, Switzerland's goal looked a bit too open when Benoit Ritieni came free, but Hias Nüssli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benoit Ritieni scored 1-0 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hias Nüssli, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 21 minutes into the match, Switzerland's goal looked a bit too open when Benoit Ritieni came free, but Hias Nüssli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benoit Ritieni could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Hias Nüssli made a huge save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ray Büeler during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, FC Lugano's Ray Büeler got a free kick in the 25th minute. 33 minutes into the game, Benoit Ritieni cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Hias Nüssli was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hias Nüssli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benoit Ritieni, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When FC Lugano's Ray Büeler in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Switzerland's goalie prevented a goal. Hias Nüssli made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Hias Nüssli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benoit Ritieni, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Benoit Ritieni to make the kick off. Hias Nüssli came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by FC Lugano's Benoit Ritieni. But to his dismay, Benoit Ritieni quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Switzerland's Timo Siegmund managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Benoit Ritieni in the 60 minute of the game. Godo Gøl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Samuele Kunz in the 62nd minute of the match. FC Lugano made a substitution. Garnier Nüesch replaced Teddy Racine. FC Lugano's Gregor Wirth was substituted for Jerome Achen. After having played for 68 minutes, Ray Büeler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Lugano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ray Büeler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. FC Lugano's Khachonkiat Pornsaptaveekoon was substituted for Benoit Ritieni. 75 minutes into the match, Nereo Precioso had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hias Nüssli. Switzerland's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nereo Precioso was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Khachonkiat Pornsaptaveekoon in the 79th minute of play forced Switzerland's goalkeeper Hias Nüssli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Lugano's Khachonkiat Pornsaptaveekoon got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to FC Lugano getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Polo Maldini hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Khachonkiat Pornsaptaveekoon in the 94th minute of play forced Switzerland's goalkeeper Hias Nüssli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
