Stéphane Lozano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Jailson de Senna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itajaí Football Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Jailson de Senna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stéphane Lozano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 28 minutes into the match, Itajaí Football Club's Jailson de Senna sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stéphane Lozano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When André Luís King fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. After the first half Itajaí Football Club were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gustave Parisse made a kick off. 60 minutes into the match, Labbeville's goal looked a bit too open when Jailson de Senna came free, but Stéphane Lozano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 66 minutes into the game, Jailson de Senna was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Itajaí Football Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Labbeville the free kick. During the 99th minute of the match André Luís King completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave André Luís King a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The Itajaí Football Club supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Itajaí Football Club would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
