But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jarbas Hermes couldn't finish the play. Paulo Mattos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 38 played minutes Saco FC got a freekick which was hit by Frederick Burnell. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.

Jannik Roblaa scored 5-1 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Paulo Mattos, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Itajaí Football Club's Paulo Mattos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jannik Roblaa in the 59th minute of play. With a little luck, Saco FC's Jannich Brolyng got control of the ball when André Piovezan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luís Paulo de Castro came free with the goalkeeper in the 66th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jannich Brolyng could save by the left post. In the 70th minute Frederick Burnell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Mattos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jailson de Senna had several of the Saco FC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 71 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 5-2 score and a disappointed Jannich Brolyng as he didn't even see the shot coming. Jannich Brolyng made an important save on a dangerous shot by André Piovezan in the 74th minute. Jannich Brolyng showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Reis in the 78th minute of the match. The supporters of Itajaí Football Club booed when Saco FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jannik Roblaa didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jannik Roblaa in the 82nd minute of play forced Itajaí Football Club's goalkeeper Paulo Mattos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Jannich Brolyng. If André Piovezan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Saco FC booed when Itajaí Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 100 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos de Moraes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Many of Itajaí Football Club's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Itajaí Football Club may have spent more time on the ball, but Saco FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
