Porziano Marchitelli ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 13th minute Italy were awarded a corner. Sigfrido Auletta went to the cornerflag to take it. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Italy's Flavio Vittori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgard Teles in the 33rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edgard Teles got free with Flavio Vittori in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Saul Salomaa made in the 38th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by 忠 魏延. Alvaro Carnevale's late challenge caught a Italy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alvaro Carnevale helped the player get up and apologised. Porziano Marchitelli hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zaccheo Andolina to make the kick off. Flavio Vittori showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 于竞常 in the 53rd minute of the match. Italy's attentive Siricio Liotta managed to snatch the ball when Saul Salomaa made a throw-in in the 55th minute of the game. João Francisco Barreto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sostene Vitulli in the 59th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Teles in the 65th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
