Alexander Higgins came out of the goal and Fernando Guedeja tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fletcher Main hit a great ball. In the 11th minute of the match Fernando Guedeja sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alexander Higgins skillfully saved the ball. Juan-Alfredo Guceño could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Alexander Higgins made a huge save. Alexander Higgins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valiente Tebar in the 14th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Scotland's Robert McNeill got a free kick in the 14th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zac O'Donnell in the 23rd minute of play forced Inter de Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Mauro Torne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Scotland's Alexander Higgins got control of the ball when Juan-Alfredo Guceño tried to sneak it across the goal line. 30 minutes into the game, Fernando Guedeja cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Alexander Higgins was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Scotland were furious when Jack MacKinnon was red carded, 33 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 34 minutes of play, Inter de Guayaquil FC's Fernando Guedeja made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alexander Higgins was left in no man's land by his defense there! Osvaldo Laserna's late challenge caught a Scotland's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Osvaldo Laserna helped the player get up and apologised. Osvaldo Laserna kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Mauro Torne made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert McNeill in the 40th minute of play. Robert McNeill hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valiente Tebar in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alexander Higgins saved Scotland from getting behind. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

52 minutes into the game, Inter de Guayaquil FC's Valiente Tebar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alexander Higgins made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. Alarcón Mallavia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Alexander Higgins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alarcón Mallavia during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alexander Higgins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valiente Tebar in the 69th minute of the match. Alexander Higgins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valiente Tebar, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. The audience was convinced that Valiente Tebar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alexander Higgins was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Mellington Henao kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Juan-Alfredo Guceño in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. Scotland's Alexander Higgins tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Alexander Higgins stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valiente Tebar's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. In the 91st minute Juan-Alfredo Guceño shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexander Higgins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when Scotland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zac O'Donnell didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 94th minute, Fernando Guedeja got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 96th minute, Valiente Tebar made a precise shot to the right of Alexander Higgins. Scotland's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 8-0. Inter de Guayaquil FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
