Samuel Benavente sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maxi López in the 7th minute of play forced Saint Sophia's goalkeeper Julio Oxman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Oxman came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by C.A. Peñarol's Maxi López. But to his dismay, Maxi López quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Saint Sophia's zone, Demetrio Aicardi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Oxman came out of the goal and Demetrio Aicardi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Maxi López scored 0-2 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Oxman, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Julio Oxman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maxi López in the 25th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Saint Sophia's Rainerio Amezquita got a free kick in the 29th minute. 32 minutes into the match, Saint Sophia's goal looked a bit too open when Maxi López came free, but Julio Oxman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The C.A. Peñarol fans' excitement grew in the 38th match minute when C.A. Peñarol's Maxi López looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 41 minutes into the match, Saint Sophia's goal looked a bit too open when Maxi López came free, but Julio Oxman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to C.A. Peñarol getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Víctor Javier Fritz hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Maxi López was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Osvaldo Gorostiaga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enzo Baracaldo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Oxman came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by C.A. Peñarol's Maxi López. But to his dismay, Maxi López quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Miren Wilshaw fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enzo Baracaldo having to interfere. After 58 played minutes C.A. Peñarol got a freekick which was hit by Víctor Javier Fritz. Luis Neira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Saint Sophia's Leopoldo Rondizzoni got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Adelio Quezada hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. After 70 played minutes Maxi López rounded Saint Sophia's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-5. After 75 minutes, Adriano Orsterhont mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Saint Sophia and the C.A. Peñarol players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 75 played minutes Saint Sophia got a freekick which was hit by Adriano Orsterhont. 79 minutes into the match, C.A. Peñarol's goal looked a bit too open when Miren Wilshaw came free, but Enzo Baracaldo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luis Neira struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Julio Oxman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C.A. Peñarol. Saint Sophia's Julio Oxman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Saint Sophia from getting a goal against them. Osvaldo Gorostiaga's late challenge caught a C.A. Peñarol's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Osvaldo Gorostiaga helped the player get up and apologised.
