The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 51st minute of the game. One of C.A. Peñarol:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ballet Azul:s goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Ysidro Briones managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ballet Azul's supporters rose to their feet, but Ysidro Briones was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Enzo Baracaldo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ysidro Briones in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Enzo Baracaldo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Enzo Baracaldo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Regino Novajas in the 83rd minute of play. Enzo Baracaldo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ysidro Briones, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Samuel Benavente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. C.A. Peñarol got a freekick which was hit by Silviano Verdejo.
