C.A. Peñarol's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Brian Izaga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Val Mac Millan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maxi López in the 6th minute of play. After 12 played minutes C.A. Peñarol got a freekick which was hit by Geofredo Laferte. After a defensive mix-up in C.A. Peñarol's zone, Brian Izaga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enzo Baracaldo came out of the goal and Brian Izaga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 18 minutes, Samuel Benavente managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.A. Peñarol's supporters crossed their fingers, but Samuel Benavente was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, C.A. Peñarol's Maxi López got a free kick in the 19th minute. A collision led to C.A. Peñarol getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Faustino Magnani hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Samuel Benavente managed to get in a good position for a shot. C.A. Peñarol's supporters rose to their feet, but Samuel Benavente was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Val Mac Millan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maxi López in the 34th minute of play forced Magallanes's goalkeeper Val Mac Millan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 35 minutes Magallanes's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Samuel Benavente who took care of the corner kick. The corner led C.A. Peñarol's Samuel Benavente to fire away a dangerous shot which Val Mac Millan despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 38 played minutes Magallanes got a freekick which was hit by Silvio Lastarria. In the 40th minute, Isidro Fariña got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 42 minutes into the match, Magallanes's goalkeeper Val Mac Millan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maxi López. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Maxi López made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, C.A. Peñarol's goal looked a bit too open when Gerónimo Brito came free, but Enzo Baracaldo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 52 minutes, Lino Bombal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Magallanes and the C.A. Peñarol players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of C.A. Peñarol booed when Magallanes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lino Bombal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Magallanes's Val Mac Millan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuel Benavente in the 53rd minute of play. 56 minutes into the game, Magallanes's Gerónimo Brito nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Enzo Baracaldo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 61 minutes into the game, Maxi López cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Val Mac Millan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Magallanes's Val Mac Millan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maxi López in the 64th minute of play. Maxi López recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. C.A. Peñarol's Demetrio Aicardi got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 82nd minute Maxi López shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Val Mac Millan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to C.A. Peñarol getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Salvador Frick hit a great ball. A hard shot by Silvio Lastarria from long distance, 87 minutes into the match, got Enzo Baracaldo's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The supporters of C.A. Peñarol booed when Magallanes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvio Lastarria didn't get a good kick on the ball.
