The Saint Sophia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Calvino Inostroza should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Victoriano Paillemil's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Calvino Inostroza was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Victoriano Paillemil in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Calvino Inostroza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Victoriano Paillemil scored 0-4 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Calvino Inostroza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

In the 54th minute, Magallanes's Pedro Manuel Losada ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Calvino Inostroza. Calvino Inostroza yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-5. If Pedro Manuel Losada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Magallanes's Gerónimo Brito was substituted for Honorio Kowalesko. In the 66th minute Victoriano Paillemil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Calvino Inostroza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Saint Sophia's Salvatore Wood got a free kick in the 67th minute. It was beautiful to see Magallanes's Selmo Scholtzl in action when he in the 69th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. The audience thought a goal was coming when Oliverio Boonen got free with Calvino Inostroza in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 89th minute of the match Magallanes got a corner. Saint Sophia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Selmo Scholtzl ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Magallanes's Selmo Scholtzl to fire away a dangerous shot which Calvino Inostroza despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of Magallanes booed when Saint Sophia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leopoldo Rondizzoni didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Magallanes could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Saint Sophia throughout the match.
