Talcampeón FC's Jacinto Cross played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albert Cancino in the 7th minute of play. In the 7th minute, Severiano Hasche hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Maxi López's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacinto Cross was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. 17 minutes into the match, Maxi López had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacinto Cross. Talcampeón FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Maxi López was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When C.A. Peñarol's Samuel Benavente proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save C.A. Peñarol from getting a goal against them. The Talcampeón FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. C.A. Peñarol were winning 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Maxi López stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes Talcampeón FC got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Barria. Naelio Marx kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Jacinto Cross made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maxi López in the 62nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in C.A. Peñarol's zone, Nestor Barria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Samuel Benavente came out of the goal and Nestor Barria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Samuel Benavente took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clemente Disselkoen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A hard shot 71 in the game by Maxi López from a close distance when the talented Jacinto Cross managed to make a qualified save. Talcampeón FC's players were relieved. Timeteo Amthauer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Henrico Abeliuk got free with Jacinto Cross in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Maxi López received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jacinto Cross came out and tried to block the shot, but Maxi López slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 87th minute. 94 minutes into the match, Talcampeón FC's goal looked a bit too open when Maxi López came free, but Jacinto Cross reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Maxi López's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 96thth minute, Jacinto Cross skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. C.A. Peñarol had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
