Eladio Escalona didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lennart Bengtsson went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. 14 minutes into the match, Rubén Martínez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mateo Pedraza. Costa Pacífico FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rubén Martínez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Costa Pacífico FC were awarded a corner in the 19th minute after Colo-Colo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Bernt Göransson took the corner. Silvio Rio kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. 22 minutes into the game, Costa Pacífico FC's Fan Xing Cheng nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eladio Escalona made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Mateo Pedraza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rubén Martínez, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. 31 minutes into the match, Colo-Colo's goal looked a bit too open when Sentis Ciblis came free, but Eladio Escalona reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Pacífico FC's zone, Rubén Martínez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mateo Pedraza came out of the goal and Rubén Martínez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Costa Pacífico FC made a substitution. Ezmundo Huici replaced Fernando Martel. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fan Xing Cheng to strike the kick off in the second half. Costa Pacífico FC's Bernt Göransson managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Lalo Vilchez in the 53 minute of the game. Eladio Escalona made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sentis Ciblis in the 54th minute of play. In the 55th minute, Fan Xing Cheng made a precise shot to the right of Eladio Escalona. Colo-Colo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Mateo Pedraza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Honorio Droguett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute Fan Xing Cheng shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eladio Escalona saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 67 minutes into the match, Fan Xing Cheng notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Colo-Colo's Eladio Escalona. Eladio Escalona was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernt Göransson in the 85th minute of play forced Colo-Colo's goalkeeper Eladio Escalona to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Colo-Colo's Marco-Antonio Etcheverry slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mateo Pedraza. That made the score 4-2 after 88 minutes of play. In the 94th minute of the match, Reinaldo Christie got a very nice opportunity to score, but Mateo Pedraza was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Costa Pacífico FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
