Gerónimo Molina started the match with the kick off. In the 11thth minute of the game Xalvador Mac Kenney who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C.A. Peñarol's Xaiver Rosende was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some careless play in the VILLANUEVA FC defense, Estebano Levenier kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicodemo Recalde. The VILLANUEVA FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicodemo Recalde should have stopped the shot. Xaiver Rosende had in the 20thth minute some difficulties stopping Reces Cabanillas's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Reces Cabanillas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Xaiver Rosende. C.A. Peñarol's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Reces Cabanillas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 23rd match minute, C.A. Peñarol was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Estebano Levenier to maneuver through the defense. C.A. Peñarol's Xaiver Rosende played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xalvador Mac Kenney in the 31st minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Gerónimo Molina kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nicodemo Recalde. That made the score 2-1 in the 35 minute of play. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Gerónimo Molina took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Nicodemo Recalde to make any attempt to save it. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Xalvador Mac Kenney to make the kick off. Nicodemo Recalde stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gerónimo Molina's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. 53 minutes into the match, C.A. Peñarol's goalkeeper Xaiver Rosende had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcel Blanco. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerónimo Molina in the 58th minute of play forced VILLANUEVA FC's goalkeeper Nicodemo Recalde to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 63 minutes, Xaiver Rosende successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcel Blanco got free with Xaiver Rosende in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nicodemo Recalde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Estebano Levenier, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alonzo Rosselot during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 80th match minute, VILLANUEVA FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alonzo Rosselot to maneuver through the defense. C.A. Peñarol made a substitution. Anselmo Velin replaced Gerónimo Molina. A sloppy throw-in by Alonzo Rosselot in the 86th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by C.A. Peñarol's Estebano Levenier. In the 87th minute Anselmo Velin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicodemo Recalde saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 90th minute, Anselmo Velin made a precise shot to the right of Nicodemo Recalde. VILLANUEVA FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1.
