Portugal's Wilson Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Portugal from getting a goal against them. 5 minutes into the match, Jimeno Abastas notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Portugal's Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Indiana Jones in the 10th minute of play. In the 16th minute Portugal were awarded a corner. Felipe Barreto went to the cornerflag to take it. Portugal's Graciano Coutinho was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Emanuel Jacob in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When Portugal's Felipe Barreto in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Emanuel Jacob took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Fabricio Andrade came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Portugal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabricio Andrade couldn't finish the play. If Caetano Moreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jimeno Abastas, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Ardiles's Emanuel Jacob played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Moura in the 33rd minute of play. Emanuel Jacob took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute Felipe Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuel Jacob saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 47th minute of the match Caetano Moreira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Emanuel Jacob showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Viriato Moura made a kick off. In the 51st minute Daniel Pimentel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuel Jacob saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Pimentel took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Emanuel Jacob. Emanuel Jacob dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Emanuel Jacob made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viriato Moura in the 56th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Felipe Barreto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Portugal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. In the 65th minute Viriato Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuel Jacob saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felipe Barreto might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emanuel Jacob. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felipe Barreto ran back to his position shaking his head. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. Portugal's Felipinho Amorim was substituted for Felipe Barreto. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felipinho Amorim in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emanuel Jacob saved Ardiles from getting behind. If Felipinho Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Felipinho Amorim could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Emanuel Jacob made a huge save. Portugal's Daniel Pimentel managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Santos Eguen in the 74 minute of the game. In the 78th minute, Rodolfo Miranda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 82 minutes into the game, Felipinho Amorim lined in a short shot 3-4 behind a frustrated Emanuel Jacob. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donato Venerando, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 86 minutes of play, Ardiles's Santos Eguen made it 4-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wilson Amorim was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 92nd minute, Indiana Jones ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Amorim was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-4.
