In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind SeleSantos FC's goalkeeper Dinei Pinheiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Niilo Mikkola in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tommy Kahn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Frank Sachs might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dinei Pinheiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Frank Sachs ran back to his position shaking his head. Dinei Pinheiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Sachs, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Tommy Kahn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Niilo Mikkola's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. In the 75th minute Frank Sachs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dinei Pinheiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81st match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sven Krakouer to maneuver through the defense. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Germany to win.
