Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wim Wilmes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tor Echegoyen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Wim Wilmes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tor Echegoyen was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Chute de Ouro FC's Benê Breckenfeld managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Gust Ennemans in the 18 minute of the game. After 20 played minutes Chute de Ouro FC got a freekick which was hit by Ruy França. In the 21st minute of the match Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tor Echegoyen showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eric Simion got free with Arnout Reekers in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tor Echegoyen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 27 minutes into the game, Benê Breckenfeld was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Chute de Ouro FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Netherlands the free kick. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Chute de Ouro FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benê Breckenfeld didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 29th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lars Meesters to maneuver through the defense. After 30 played minutes Chute de Ouro FC got a freekick which was hit by Yngve Örtendahl. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amador Patxi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tor Echegoyen having to interfere.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 51st minute of play forced Chute de Ouro FC's goalkeeper Tor Echegoyen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Chute de Ouro FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niculae Tătaru didn't get a good kick on the ball. 59 minutes had been played when some careless play by Chute de Ouro FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Netherlands's corner David Eikelkamp fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Tor Echegoyen quite easily take care of the ball. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tor Echegoyen having to interfere. Chute de Ouro FC's Ivo Simões was substituted for Amador Patxi. After having played for 73 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tor Echegoyen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Lars Meesters managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Lars Meesters was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tor Echegoyen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 82nd minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tor Echegoyen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 85 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Chute de Ouro FC's Tor Echegoyen. Tor Echegoyen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot from long distance in the 90th minute, but Tor Echegoyen was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post.
