Arnout Reekers stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ian Cosme's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. Ali Nejat Özertem showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ali Nejat Özertem. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran back to his position shaking his head. When Gijsbert ter Kruimer came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gijsbert ter Kruimer couldn't finish the play. In the 26th minute, Ricardinho Dantas made a precise shot to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Ali Nejat Özertem made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 32nd minute of play. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 34th minute after Colombo A.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. Netherlands's Lars Meesters was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ali Nejat Özertem in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Colombo A.C.'s Ricardinho Dantas. But to his dismay, Ricardinho Dantas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 43rd minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute Lars Meesters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ali Nejat Özertem saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 58 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Kees Mooiweer. Colombo A.C.'s Edu Correia was substituted for Julian Tomporowski. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Kees Mooiweer hit a great ball. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardinho Dantas, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardinho Dantas in the 62nd minute of play. Ali Nejat Özertem showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars Meesters, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. It was a well-played corner which Lars Meesters managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aitor Cintron, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 69th minute of the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ali Nejat Özertem saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 72 minutes into the game, Gustaaf Groeneveldt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Netherlands's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Colombo A.C. the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 71st minute of the game. One of Netherlands:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Colombo A.C.:s goal. Adrien Caillol took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. After 76 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Wim Wilmes. When Colombo A.C.'s Aitor Cintron in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Netherlands's goalie prevented a goal. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardinho Dantas in the 79th minute of play. Colombo A.C.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 81st minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt scored to the left of an out of position Ali Nejat Özertem, making the score, 3-1. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardinho Dantas in the 84th minute of play. Colombo A.C.'s Ali Nejat Özertem proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Colombo A.C. from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 93rd minute of play forced Colombo A.C.'s goalkeeper Ali Nejat Özertem to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 94 minutes had been played when some careless play by Colombo A.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer to fire away a dangerous shot which Ali Nejat Özertem despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Colombo A.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giovani Mendes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 98th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Colombo A.C.. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aitor Cintron in the 100th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In a very dangerous position, a player in Netherlands fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 102nd minute. Penalty! Arnout Reekers had in the 103rdth minute some difficulties stopping Adrien Caillol's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Netherlands's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Colombo A.C. had won, even though Netherlands had held more of the ball.
