Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chiquinho Pombal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joaquin Jobo scored 2-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arnout Reekers, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Abutres 2003 FDP's Osvaldinho Vergílio got a free kick in the 91st minute. In the 94th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Abutres 2003 FDP's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Egbert Nijveldt got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jan Figlewski quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Netherlands were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
