After a defensive mix-up in Castanheiro SC's zone, Zaccheo Andolina stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wincent Dropinski came out of the goal and Zaccheo Andolina tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Zaccheo Andolina came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Italy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zaccheo Andolina couldn't finish the play. If Porziano Marchitelli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A sloppy throw-in by Hélder Schmidt in the 47th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Italy's Siricio Liotta. The Castanheiro SC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Italy were winning 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfredo Stefano made a kick off. Hélder Schmidt made in the 53rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Rodolfo Sergipano. Flavio Vittori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robben Spoelberchs, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After 57 played minutes Italy got a freekick which was hit by Deodato Magliozzi. In the 61st minute, Zaccheo Andolina ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wincent Dropinski was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3.
