Roberto Puch ran back to his position shaking his head. 13 minutes into the match, Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roberto Puch. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roberto Puch in the 18th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 23rd minute of play forced Lanús's goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Italy were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Lanús's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sigfrido Auletta took the corner. The corner led Italy's Sigfrido Auletta to fire away a dangerous shot which Manuel Neuer despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Rabelani Thebile's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Flavio Vittori read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lanús's goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Roberto Puch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavio Vittori having to interfere. After 34 played minutes Italy got a freekick which was hit by Sostene Vitulli. Flavio Vittori showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roberto Puch in the 37th minute of the match. In the 45th minute Zaccheo Andolina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Neuer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lanús made a substitution. Eloy Gaskon replaced Roberto Puch. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eloy Gaskon to strike the kick off in the second half. Manuel Neuer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 53rd minute of the match. When Porziano Marchitelli came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Italy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Porziano Marchitelli couldn't finish the play. Porziano Marchitelli blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Manuel Neuer having to make a save. Manuel Neuer made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Porziano Marchitelli sent off a good shot on target. Porziano Marchitelli succeeded in the game's 62nd minute to get real power on a long shot . Lanús's Manuel Neuer hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 1-1! Italy's Flavio Vittori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eloy Gaskon in the 67th minute of play. In the 70th minute, Italy's Zaccheo Andolina ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Manuel Neuer. Manuel Neuer yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. In the 73rd match minute, Lanús was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benjamin Venceslas to maneuver through the defense. Flavio Vittori stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eloy Gaskon's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Italy's Flavio Vittori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eloy Gaskon in the 82nd minute of play. A collision led to Lanús getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. 范枫青 hit a great ball. Italy's Sansone Vanella was substituted for Gianpaolo Mascari. Italy made a substitution. Guiscardo Davide replaced Sigfrido Auletta. Adriano Curto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adriano Curto got free with Manuel Neuer in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Flavio Vittori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eloy Gaskon, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Bernardino Gaztea hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Manuel Neuer made a fantastic save in the 97th minute, when Adriano Curto sent off a good shot on target. The Italy supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Italy would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
