With an extended leg and a bit of luck Khalid Kennedy prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to England getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. After 23 minutes of play, Wellington Phoenix's Teofilo Unai made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. In the 55th minute of the match, Micah Macdonald got a very nice opportunity to score, but Zeca Santos was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When the match clock showed 62 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Teofilo Unai sped through England's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Khalid Kennedy. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anderson Ortiz in the 75th minute of play forced England's goalkeeper Khalid Kennedy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80thth minute of the game Teofilo Unai who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but England's Khalid Kennedy was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
