The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Isak Jacobsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonas Hautot, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Isak Jacobsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonas Hautot in the 5th minute of the match. In the 7thth minute of the game Sebastian Käller who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Austria's Arne Grabner was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 8 minutes into the match, Austria's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Käller came free, but Arne Grabner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arne Grabner didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sebastian Käller went, in the 10th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Isak Jacobsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jonas Hautot's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Austria's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Käller came free, but Arne Grabner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Austria's zone, Henrik Berg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arne Grabner came out of the goal and Henrik Berg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 28 played minutes Sweden got a freekick which was hit by Birger Spetz. Austria's Arne Grabner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Käller in the 30th minute of play. Isak Jacobsson made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Jonas Hautot sent off a good shot on target. 35 minutes into the game, Philip Ibertsberger threw the ball into play from the sideline. Sweden's Henrik Berg quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. A collision led to Austria getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Philip Ibertsberger hit a great ball. 42 minutes into the match, Sebastian Käller had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arne Grabner. Austria's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sebastian Käller was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Sweden's Birger Spetz managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Philip Ibertsberger in the 45 minute of the game. 47 minutes into the match, Sweden's goalkeeper Isak Jacobsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jonas Hautot. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Jonas Hautot got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 1-2. 49 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sebastian Käller to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Sweden defense, Jonas Hautot kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Isak Jacobsson. The Sweden fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Isak Jacobsson should have stopped the shot. Austria's Arne Grabner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Käller in the 59th minute of play. Sweden made a substitution. Ivar Lindqvist replaced Einar Hedström. Austria's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ovidiu Adrian in the 65th minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Adib Ovi heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. 69 minutes into the match, Austria's goalkeeper Arne Grabner had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ivar Lindqvist. In the 71st minute Jonas Hautot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isak Jacobsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Isak Jacobsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michael-Jan Schönberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 94 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sweden's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ovidiu Adrian was slow to take the kick. During this time Austria's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Austria's Niclas Schulten to a score. 3-3 in the 94th minute. Ivar Lindqvist could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Arne Grabner made a huge save. In the 98thth minute of the game Jörgen Levander who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Austria's Arne Grabner was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
