The throw-in from Kees Mooiweer in the 7th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by KaoS Futbol Club's Zeledon Tabb. In the 9th minute Lars Meesters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pierluigi Buffon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, Lars Meesters had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pierluigi Buffon. KaoS Futbol Club's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lars Meesters was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Pierluigi Buffon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 11th minute of the match. In the 12th minute Netherlands were awarded a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer went to the cornerflag to take it. Lars Meesters made a great header on Netherlands's corner, it was just that KaoS Futbol Club's Pierluigi Buffon managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 15th minute Jacob Albuquerque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lars Meesters scored 1-2 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pierluigi Buffon, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jacob Albuquerque got free with Arnout Reekers in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 49th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pierluigi Buffon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
After 53 minutes, Amancio Semeno mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the KaoS Futbol Club and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, KaoS Futbol Club's Lluis Companys got a free kick in the 55th minute. 59 minutes into the match, KaoS Futbol Club's goalkeeper Pierluigi Buffon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. Pierluigi Buffon made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. 64 minutes into the match, KaoS Futbol Club's goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Pierluigi Buffon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Narciso Noe managed to get in a good position for a shot. KaoS Futbol Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Narciso Noe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnout Reekers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 68th minute of the game, Mathijn Doctor landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. When Jacob Albuquerque fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored KaoS Futbol Club's protests and gave Jacob Albuquerque a yellow card for diving instead. After having played for 70 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to KaoS Futbol Club getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Lluis Companys hit a great ball. In the 76th minute of the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a very nice opportunity to score, but Pierluigi Buffon was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Pierluigi Buffon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wim Wilmes in the 80th minute. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes got a free kick in the 81st minute. Egbert Nijveldt's late challenge caught a KaoS Futbol Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. KaoS Futbol Club's Igor Lebas managed to work through Netherlands's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Igor Lebas dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The supporters of Netherlands booed when KaoS Futbol Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. León Ponzio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pierluigi Buffon having to interfere. KaoS Futbol Club's Pierluigi Buffon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 97th minute of the match, managed to save KaoS Futbol Club from getting a goal against them. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
