The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, S.C.CHUÍ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joris Scheer to maneuver through the defense. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vítor Peixoto, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. If Bernardinho Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Armando Cerezo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 30th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Cerezo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 32 played minutes S.C.CHUÍ got a freekick which was hit by Adalberto Soeiro. Gustaaf Groeneveldt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Armando Cerezo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Armando Cerezo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 43 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. The S.C.CHUÍ players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Netherlands were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gijsbert ter Kruimer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Wim Wilmes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Armando Cerezo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 54th minute of play forced S.C.CHUÍ's goalkeeper Armando Cerezo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 60 minutes into the match, S.C.CHUÍ's goal looked a bit too open when Lars Meesters came free, but Armando Cerezo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 61st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Armando Cerezo in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind S.C.CHUÍ's goalkeeper Armando Cerezo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 71 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Bernardinho Abreu came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernardinho Abreu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to S.C.CHUÍ getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Bernardinho Abreu hit a great ball. S.C.CHUÍ's Armando Cerezo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 84th minute of play. In the 85th minute Joris Scheer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Armando Cerezo in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 89 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Lars Meesters sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Armando Cerezo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luis León charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luis León the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Netherlands booed when S.C.CHUÍ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis León didn't get a good kick on the ball. Armando Cerezo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 92nd minute of the match.
