Octavian Soare was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mo Yuan Fan's late challenge caught a Hungary's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mo Yuan Fan helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Galati Harbour Cats getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Mo Yuan Fan hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Hungary's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After a defensive mix-up in Galati Harbour Cats's zone, Balazs Lajos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Octavian Soare came out of the goal and Balazs Lajos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 76th minute of the match Galati Harbour Cats got a corner. Hungary's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dan Petrescu ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Galati Harbour Cats's Ovidiu Pandrea to fire away a dangerous shot which Fodor Daniel despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Octavian Soare made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Takacs Tibor sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ştefan Sticlaru in the 92nd minute of play forced Hungary's goalkeeper Fodor Daniel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ştefan Sticlaru hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Hungary's Bakos Endre got a free kick in the 96th minute.
