Gijsbert ter Kruimer started the match with the kick off. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar De León in the 6th minute of play. 7 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Oscar De León came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustaaf Groeneveldt took the ball and in the 11 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Chuan Cintron. Chuan Cintron dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Chuan Cintron made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 16th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Atlético Municipal's goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Chuan Cintron reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chuan Cintron showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. In the 24th minute, Oscar De León hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the game, Willie Colon cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Arnout Reekers was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lars Meesters received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Chuan Cintron tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chuan Cintron showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 37th minute of the match. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Willie Colon sent off a good shot on target. In the 44th minute, Claude Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

55 minutes into the match, Atlético Municipal's goalkeeper Chuan Cintron had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. In the 60th minute, Willie Colon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arnout Reekers was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Chuan Cintron made a huge save. Atlético Municipal made a substitution. Gau Resto replaced Oscar De León. Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gau Resto in the 75th minute of play. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claude Sena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Willie Colon in the 77th minute of play. The Atlético Municipal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Chuan Cintron should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 88th minute of play forced Atlético Municipal's goalkeeper Chuan Cintron to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
