The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute Keith McNie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zvezdan Nedeljkovic saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jovan Borisov hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. 14 minutes into the match, Wayne Pollard had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zvezdan Nedeljkovic. Serbia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wayne Pollard was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. The Inverness Warriors fans' excitement grew in the 17th match minute when Inverness Warriors's Wayne Pollard looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 20th minute, Inverness Warriors's Wayne Pollard dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-0. Wayne Pollard took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zvezdan Nedeljkovic. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. With a little luck, Serbia's Zvezdan Nedeljkovic got control of the ball when Tommy Binnie tried to sneak it across the goal line. A hard shot by Matt Corrie from long distance, 34 minutes into the match, got Zvezdan Nedeljkovic's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Keith McNie, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 37th minute, Inverness Warriors's Wayne Pollard ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Zvezdan Nedeljkovic. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 7-0. With a little luck, Serbia's Zvezdan Nedeljkovic got control of the ball when Wayne Pollard tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Serbia booed when Inverness Warriors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lee Martin didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wayne Pollard was the one to do the kick off. The audience was convinced that Wayne Pollard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zvezdan Nedeljkovic was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Keith McNie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 54th minute, Jovan Borisov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Finlay Gifford came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Inverness Warriors fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Finlay Gifford couldn't finish the play. In the 57th minute, Neil Howison made a precise shot to the right of Zvezdan Nedeljkovic. Serbia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 8-0. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Finlay Gifford in the 62nd minute of play. After 66 played minutes Serbia got a freekick which was hit by Jovan Borisov. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Inverness Warriors's Wayne Pollard. But to his dismay, Wayne Pollard quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 11-0. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jay Duff went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 12-0 was the resulting score. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tommy Binnie went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 13-0 was the resulting score. Inverness Warriors's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
