In the 20thth minute of the game Gernando Azevedo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Switzerland's Hias Nüssli was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gernando Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 44th minute, Switzerland's Levi von Herren seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Levi von Herren the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Switzerland protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Levi von Herren had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 6-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gernando Azevedo made a kick off. If Gernando Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Hias Nüssli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gernando Azevedo in the 55th minute of the match. 63 minutes into the match, Gernando Azevedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hias Nüssli. Switzerland's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gernando Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gernando Azevedo in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hias Nüssli prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Gernando Azevedo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hias Nüssli was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. In the 70th minute, Gernando Azevedo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hias Nüssli was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. Switzerland's Eric Thomi managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Hidayet Baran in the 74 minute of the game. Hias Nüssli didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gernando Azevedo went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 9-0 was the resulting score. Gernando Azevedo scored 10-0 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hias Nüssli, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 82nd minute, Gernando Azevedo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Los Andes FC - FSCMZ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 11-0. Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's Fred Monteiro got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 89 played minutes Switzerland got a freekick which was hit by Gustav Iseli. In the 94th minute Gernando Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hias Nüssli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 96 minutes, Gernando Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gernando Azevedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Switzerland's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
