In the 9th minute Felipe Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yavuz Bülent Akbatu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bittor Leyva in the 11th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 11 minutes, Wit Lampa put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Wilson Amorim. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.
