Marian Chilavert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Curcio Carballeira, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ömür Seyfeddin in the 8th minute of play forced Club Getafe Deportivo's goalkeeper Jairo Castellano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Zagłębie Dąbrowskie's Marian Chilavert got control of the ball when Vlad Ţăranu tried to sneak it across the goal line. The corner led to Club Getafe Deportivo's Víctor Feal getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Marian Chilavert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curcio Carballeira in the 14th minute of play. Club Getafe Deportivo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Orlo Sarrate in the 24th minute. The corner ended in Orlo Sarrate almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Zagłębie Dąbrowskie's Marian Chilavert did a great save. Vlad Ţăranu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Marian Chilavert made a huge save. Marian Chilavert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henrico Del Bosque in the 34th minute of the match. The throw-in from Damazy Turok in the 37th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Club Getafe Deportivo's Xulian Calvo. Jairo Castellano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karol Biskupiak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the match, Club Getafe Deportivo's Vlad Ţăranu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marian Chilavert narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 45th minute, Curcio Carballeira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Roman Kon's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jairo Castellano was relentless in the 48th minute of the game. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Curcio Carballeira made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Curcio Carballeira notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Zagłębie Dąbrowskie's Marian Chilavert. Marian Chilavert was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Curcio Carballeira came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Club Getafe Deportivo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Curcio Carballeira couldn't finish the play.
