When Wim Wilmes came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play. 11 minutes into the match, IFK Fjärås's Matej Hnilica sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arnout Reekers narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the IFK Fjärås defense, Gijsbert ter Kruimer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kristoffer Västerberg. The IFK Fjärås fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kristoffer Västerberg should have stopped the shot. In the 14th minute Matej Hnilica shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a precise shot to the right of Kristoffer Västerberg. IFK Fjärås's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giuliano de Azevedo in the 20th minute of the match. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 26th minute after IFK Fjärås's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 27th minute. Matej Hnilica could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. 31 minutes had been played when some careless play by IFK Fjärås's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. In the 32nd match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bas Tuitert to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 36th minute of play forced IFK Fjärås's goalkeeper Kristoffer Västerberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, IFK Fjärås's Arnout Reekers threw himself towards the right post 37 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Matej Hnilica, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 37 minutes into the game, IFK Fjärås's Matej Hnilica nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arnout Reekers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Giuliano de Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Kristoffer Västerberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 46th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Allan Björk during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 47th match minute, IFK Fjärås was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Allan Björk to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, IFK Fjärås's Allan Björk got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free with the goalkeeper in the 54th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Kristoffer Västerberg could save by the left post. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jimmie Ekström in the 59th minute of play. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from J.J Jaago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kristoffer Västerberg having to interfere. After 70 played minutes IFK Fjärås got a freekick which was hit by Torbjörn Samuelsson. IFK Fjärås's Börge Larsson got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 77 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kristoffer Västerberg narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Kristoffer Västerberg made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. If Matej Hnilica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 88 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Matej Hnilica came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 90th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristoffer Västerberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in IFK Fjärås's zone, Gustaaf Groeneveldt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kristoffer Västerberg came out of the goal and Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Netherlands eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
