After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Albin Holweck managed to get in a good position for a shot. Germany's supporters rose to their feet, but Albin Holweck was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patxi Aizpuru breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Miquel Martiarena during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Iván Imaz got a throw-in 27 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Jorge Valdivia. Oscar Olmos hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. If Albin Holweck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. Germany's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jorge Valdivia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. 45 minutes into the game, Germany's Frank Sachs nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Patxi Aizpuru made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Javier Casas to strike the kick off in the second half. Inter de Chillán's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Germany the free kick.
