Agamenón do Nascimento hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. If Felipe Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Portugal booed when Tᴜʀᴋᴇʏ Lɪᴏɴꜱ FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hasan Tahsin Polatalp didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Atilla Açıkalın had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Atilla Açıkalın got free with Wilson Amorim in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Atilla Açıkalın stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Portugal's Felipe Barreto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Batıkan Muhsin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Felipinho Amorims short, quick shot in the 90thth minute got Batıkan Muhsin to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Atilla Açıkalın recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Tᴜʀᴋᴇʏ Lɪᴏɴꜱ FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Portugal had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
