The tension between the Portugal and the Vikingos FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Vikingos FC booed when Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Bastos didn't get a good kick on the ball. 5 minutes into the match, Vikingos FC's Marcelo Perico broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After having played for 9 minutes, Marco Cantona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vikingos FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marco Cantona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sebastián Sosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 11th minute of the match Portugal got a corner. Vikingos FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Felipe Barreto ran over to the corner to take the kick. 15 minutes into the game, Vikingos FC's Marco Cantona nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wilson Amorim made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Wilson Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alejandro Tena in the 17th minute. Felipe Barreto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Barreto in the 19th minute of play forced Vikingos FC's goalkeeper Sebastián Sosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felipe Barreto in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sebastián Sosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Vikingos FC's Sebastián Sosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Pimentel in the 44th minute of play. Portugal were awarded a corner in the 45th minute after Vikingos FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Felipe Barreto took the corner. Portugal's Faustino Almeida was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Sebastián Sosa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Marco Cantona made the kick off in the second half. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ladislao Erramu, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Segundo Balendin in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilson Amorim saved Portugal from getting behind. Felipe Barreto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sebastián Sosa having to make a save. Felipinho Amorim came free with the goalkeeper in the 83rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Sebastián Sosa could save by the left post. With a little luck, Vikingos FC's Sebastián Sosa got control of the ball when Felipinho Amorim tried to sneak it across the goal line. 88 minutes into the match, Portugal's Felipinho Amorim sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sebastián Sosa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Portugal eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
