Jean-Luc Dehaene made in the 18th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Luis Bonet however managed to control. Jo Øverås showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. In the 44th minute, Siricio Liotta made a precise shot to the right of Jo Øverås. Daustad's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Daustad made a substitution. Ola Moland replaced Peng Song Ting. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zaccheo Andolina was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Italy getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Sigfrido Auletta hit a great ball. Jo Øverås made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Zaccheo Andolina sent off a good shot on target. If Porziano Marchitelli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 73 minutes into the match, Italy's Zaccheo Andolina sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jo Øverås narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 78th minute Teofil Chrzan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Vittori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th minute, Are Rygg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Italy's Sansone Vanella was substituted for Gianpaolo Mascari. After a rather tough play, Daustad's Are Rygg got a free kick in the 86th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Porziano Marchitelli got free with Jo Øverås in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 92nd minute of the game Pelle Anundsson made a throw-in which Are Rygg played forward. A collision led to Italy getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Siricio Liotta hit a great ball. Jo Øverås was a little too slow when Adriano Curto got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 96th minute. The score was now 1-4. Italy's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
