In the 36th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Egbert Nijveldt to maneuver through the defense. Várdomb's Marciano Marino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 56th minute of play. After 57 minutes Várdomb's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Várdomb's goalie and right to Lars Meesters. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Várdomb's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wim Wilmes might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marciano Marino. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wim Wilmes ran back to his position shaking his head. Várdomb's Marciano Marino proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Várdomb from getting a goal against them. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gijsbert ter Kruimer couldn't finish the play. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Várdomb's goalkeeper Marciano Marino, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 91 minutes into the game, László Benke cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Arnout Reekers was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. For all the effort they put into the match, the Netherlands players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Várdomb.
