In the 6th minute Kajetan Kochniarczyk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mikolaj Jerzyk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. A collision led to Newcastle United getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Olgierd Wojtowicz hit a great ball. 17 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mikolaj Jerzyk made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 19th minute of play forced Newcastle United's goalkeeper Mikolaj Jerzyk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 20th minute after Newcastle United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. The corner led to Netherlands's David Eikelkamp getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Mikolaj Jerzyk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Newcastle United's Kajetan Kochniarczyk. But to his dismay, Kajetan Kochniarczyk quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Mikolaj Jerzyk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 29th minute of play. Pankracy Malicki could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. Gustaaf Groeneveldt struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Mikolaj Jerzyk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. In the 46th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mikolaj Jerzyk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pankracy Malicki made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olgierd Wojtowicz in the 53rd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 55 minutes into the match, Newcastle United's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Mikolaj Jerzyk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 56th minute Netherlands were awarded a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer went to the cornerflag to take it. Mikolaj Jerzyk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kees Mooiweer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pankracy Malicki in the 66th minute of play. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kajetan Kochniarczyk in the 68th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 70th minute of play forced Newcastle United's goalkeeper Mikolaj Jerzyk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 75 minutes, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wim Wilmes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adam Pacholewski, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. In the 87th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Mikolaj Jerzyk. The goal made the score 2-5.
