After 53 played minutes, Club Puerto Quito's Marcelo Noceda shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bonito Marschall came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Club Puerto Quito reached it. The supporters of Club Puerto Quito booed when Czechia Hradec Králové was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelo Noceda was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 79th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When Oswaldo Barrionuevo came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Club Puerto Quito fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oswaldo Barrionuevo couldn't finish the play. Bonito Marschall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Bonilla in the 83rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Pepito Plasencia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Puerto Quito's supporters rose to their feet, but Pepito Plasencia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bonito Marschall breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rodolfo Bonilla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bonito Marschall having to interfere.
