With a couple of smart ball manuevers Guga Trancoso in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilson Amorim saved Portugal from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Víktor Santos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Wilson Amorim. That made the score 1-0 in the 15 minute of play. PIAUÍ FC's Serginho Nogueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 18th minute of play. Portugal were awarded a corner in the 19th minute after PIAUÍ FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Felipe Barreto took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Faustino Almeida heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Felipe Barreto might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Serginho Nogueira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felipe Barreto ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Víktor Santos got free with Wilson Amorim in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the PIAUÍ FC defense, Felipe Barreto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Serginho Nogueira. The PIAUÍ FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Serginho Nogueira should have stopped the shot. 28 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Víktor Santos. The audience was convinced that Felipe Barreto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Serginho Nogueira was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Demis Katsarolidis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felipe Barreto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Serginho Nogueira having to make a save. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Viriato Moura stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. PIAUÍ FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Guga Trancoso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilson Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wilson Amorim came out of the goal in the 96th minute to try and stop a shot by PIAUÍ FC's Fernandinho Mesquita. But to his dismay, Fernandinho Mesquita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. Portugal's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
