The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Laurențiu Taşcău in the 18th minute. FC Buciumii's Aurelian Ştiubei played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 19th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aurelian Ştiubei. FC Buciumii's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gustaaf Groeneveldt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Aurelian Ştiubei showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. Wim Wilmes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, FC Buciumii's Aurelian Ştiubei got control of the ball when Wim Wilmes tried to sneak it across the goal line. 56 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Buciumii's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Aurelian Ştiubei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Netherlands booed when FC Buciumii was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sorin Răducu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aurelian Ştiubei. Aurelian Ştiubei dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 83rd play minute Wim Wilmes came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Aurelian Ştiubei. 0-4. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lars Meesters in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aurelian Ştiubei saved FC Buciumii from getting behind. A collision led to FC Buciumii getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Sebastian Giubelean hit a great ball. Gustaaf Groeneveldt might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aurelian Ştiubei. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gustaaf Groeneveldt ran back to his position shaking his head. Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
