Tommy Kahn was left in no man's land by his defense there! 13 minutes into the match, Gürsel Aksel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tommy Kahn. Germany's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gürsel Aksel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Basmane Texas's Erik Allikmäe got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 16 minutes of play, Basmane Texas's Gürsel Aksel made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tommy Kahn was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gürsel Aksel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Kahn having to interfere. The supporters of Basmane Texas booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris Mergenthaler didn't get a good kick on the ball. Germany's Tommy Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gürsel Aksel in the 38th minute of play. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Chris Mergenthaler hit a great ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gürsel Aksel to make the kick off.
