Phillip Glerum tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Phillip Glerum took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adolfo Gipuzkoa in the 30th minute of play. Peter-Jan De Brouwer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. In the 34th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gust Ennemans to maneuver through the defense. Phillip Glerum showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 37th minute of the match. It was a well-played corner which Egbert Nijveldt managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand.
