Belgium's Casper Claes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Belgium from getting a goal against them. Darkwing Ducks's Søren Kvols played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 12th minute of play. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emil Turek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Darkwing Ducks defense, Edward Vanderstraeten kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Søren Kvols. The Darkwing Ducks fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Søren Kvols should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Darkwing Ducks getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Julián Palacios hit a great ball. Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Søren Kvols. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head. Søren Kvols showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 22nd minute of the match. 24 minutes into the match, Edward Vanderstraeten had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Søren Kvols. Darkwing Ducks's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edward Vanderstraeten was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emil Turek in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Casper Claes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hassan Wiemert hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Søren Kvols showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emil Turek in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Casper Claes saved Belgium from getting behind. After taking down the ball on Darkwing Ducks's corner Hassan Wiemert fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Casper Claes quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 36th minute of play forced Darkwing Ducks's goalkeeper Søren Kvols to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Casper Claes made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Hassan Wiemert sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Belgium booed when Darkwing Ducks was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulrik Haxby didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hassan Wiemert could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Casper Claes made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Darkwing Ducks's zone, Yves Dervaux stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Søren Kvols came out of the goal and Yves Dervaux tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half Belgium were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edward Vanderstraeten was the one to do the kick off. After 52 played minutes Darkwing Ducks got a freekick which was hit by Ulrik Haxby. In the 55th minute Emil Turek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 56 minutes into the match, Darkwing Ducks's goalkeeper Søren Kvols had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edward Vanderstraeten. Hassan Wiemert succeeded in the game's 58th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-2. Yves Dervaux recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Darkwing Ducks's goalkeeper Søren Kvols, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Corrado Coletti in the 78th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Belgium had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
