After a rather tough play, Panionios MK's Antonis Linardakis got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Alketas Bourouselos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. Alketas Bourouselos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 6th minute of the match. When Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 8th minute got a chance for a shot 8th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Panionios MK's goalie prevented a goal. 12 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alketas Bourouselos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alketas Bourouselos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars Meesters, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 24 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alketas Bourouselos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lars Meesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alketas Bourouselos having to interfere. Wim Wilmes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alketas Bourouselos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Themos Leontiadis came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Themos Leontiadis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 43 minutes, Lars Meesters managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lars Meesters was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. The throw-in from Kees Mooiweer in the 53rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Panionios MK's Omiros Maniatis. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 62 minutes into the match, Panionios MK's goalkeeper Alketas Bourouselos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Panionios MK's goalkeeper Alketas Bourouselos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Kees Mooiweer hit a great ball. After 67 minutes of play, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alketas Bourouselos was left in no man's land by his defense there! Kees Mooiweer hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. 72 minutes into the match, Allan Corrigan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Allan Corrigan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Netherlands's attentive Lars Meesters managed to snatch the ball when Manel Garrincha made a throw-in in the 75th minute of the game. Alketas Bourouselos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. 78 minutes into the match, Lars Meesters notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Panionios MK's Alketas Bourouselos. Alketas Bourouselos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 83 minutes into the game, Kees Mooiweer threw the ball into play from the sideline. Panionios MK's Fanis Salepis quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 86th minute of play forced Panionios MK's goalkeeper Alketas Bourouselos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Egbert Nijveldt hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. If Lars Meesters had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
