Ronaldinho Meira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Fernando Pras tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nelsinho Marinho charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nelsinho Marinho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Ronaldinho Meira came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Morro Grande E.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldinho Meira couldn't finish the play. Ronaldinho Meira might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fernando Pras. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ronaldinho Meira ran back to his position shaking his head. Fernando Pras showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronaldinho Meira in the 17th minute of the match. 27 minutes into the game, Morro Grande E.C's Ronaldinho Meira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fernando Pras made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 31st minute, Perivaldo Carneiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 31st minute of the match Toninho Caca-Rato sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fernando Pras skillfully saved the ball. 33 minutes into the match, Ronaldinho Meira notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Palestra do Interior's Fernando Pras. Fernando Pras was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Palestra do Interior's Christiano Palmeira got a free kick in the 40th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nelsinho Marinho to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldinho Meira came free, but Fernando Pras reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 52 minutes into the match, Ronaldinho Meira dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Fernando Pras, 0-3. Kaká Sampaio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Pras having to interfere. In the 58th minute of the match Morro Grande E.C got a corner. Palestra do Interior's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Toninho Caca-Rato ran over to the corner to take the kick. Morro Grande E.C's Jorginho Mazza managed to work through Palestra do Interior's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Jorginho Mazza dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 67 minutes into the match, Morro Grande E.C's goal looked a bit too open when Nelsinho Marinho came free, but Gláuber Brodel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Jorginho Mazza came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Morro Grande E.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorginho Mazza couldn't finish the play. Morro Grande E.C's Hélder Velasco was substituted for Habib Ali Picavea. Palestra do Interior made a substitution. Anísio Carneiro replaced Perivaldo Gerber. In the 74th minute, Ronaldinho Meira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

The Morro Grande E.C supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Morro Grande E.C would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
