In the 23rd minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harold Hjelton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arnout Reekers stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nichlas Glastrup's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Nichlas Glastrup came free with the goalkeeper in the 29th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Arnout Reekers could save by the left post. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Piet Lewandowski in the 40th minute of the match. If Piet Lewandowski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Netherlands booed when AC Farsaebarca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filip Østkjær didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nichlas Glastrup in the 52nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Piet Lewandowski in the 69th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
